How the UAE / Dubai visa works
The UAE tourist visa is issued electronically by the ICP or by GDRFA Dubai through a licensed sponsor — an airline, hotel or registered travel agency. There is no consulate appointment and no interview. That makes it one of the easiest visas an Indian passport holder can get, and also one of the most frequently rejected for silly reasons: a scan that crops the passport MRZ, a photo with a shadow behind the head, or a name typed in a different order to the passport.

Where UAE / Dubai applications go wrong
Name order must match the passport exactly
UAE systems split your name into first, middle and last. If your passport shows only a single name in the Given Name field, or your surname sits on the Given Name line, the application must reflect that literally. A mismatch between the visa and the passport data page means the airline can deny boarding even after the visa is issued.
Photo and passport scan specifications are strict
White background, no spectacles glare, both ears visible where possible, and the full passport data page scanned edge to edge including the two machine-readable lines at the bottom. Phone photos of a passport held at an angle are the single most common cause of a returned application.
Six months validity is counted from the date of entry
Your passport needs at least six months of validity from the day you land, not from the day you apply. Passports in the 6–7 month window are borderline and should be renewed first.
Visa types
Tourist visa, single entry
The standard short holiday visa. Valid for entry within 60 days of issue and a 30-day stay from arrival.
Tourist visa, long stay

Multiple entry visa
For travellers making repeated trips within a validity period. Usually requires prior UAE travel history or a strong financial profile.
