Dubai visa rejections: seven avoidable reasons Indian applications come back
The UAE tourist visa has no interview and no biometrics, so everything rides on the paperwork. These are the errors that cause most rejections.

A UAE tourist visa is decided entirely on what you upload. There is nobody to explain yourself to, and a rejection means the government fee is gone. Almost all of it is preventable.
1. The name is entered in the wrong order
Indian passports vary in how they split names, and some show a single name with the surname field blank. UAE systems demand first, middle and last name fields. Entering your name in the order that feels natural rather than the order printed on the passport creates a visa that does not match your travel document, and airlines catch it at check-in.
2. The passport scan is cropped
The full data page must be visible, edge to edge, including the two machine-readable lines along the bottom. A photograph of the passport taken at an angle on a phone, with the edges cut off, is the single most common upload problem.
3. The photograph fails specification
- •Plain white background, no shadow behind the head
- •No spectacles, or at minimum no glare and no tint
- •Full face visible, neutral expression, head occupying most of the frame
- •Recent — a photograph from a passport issued eight years ago will be flagged
4. Passport validity is measured from the wrong date
Six months of validity is required from the date of entry, not the date of application. A passport with seven months left on the day you apply for a trip three months out is inside the window, but only just — and a delay to your travel plans pushes it outside.
5. Previous UAE records do not match
If you have visited the UAE before, immigration records hold your earlier details. A different spelling of your name or a different date of birth compared to the earlier record sends the file to manual review, and often to rejection.
6. Unresolved absconding or overstay history
An old overstay, a cancelled employment visa that was never properly closed, or an absconding report filed by a previous employer will block a new visa. These can usually be resolved, but not in the three days before a flight.
7. Applying too close to travel
Three to five working days is normal, and express processing is not guaranteed. Applying on Thursday for a Saturday flight leaves no room for a correction, which is exactly when corrections turn out to be needed.
